You don't need to get it right, you just need to get it going...

Hi friends, last week we talked about the power of doing just one thing. I just earned my certification and credentials as a Life Coach, to continue my journey as a student in this area. The Master Coach instructor was helping the class to deal with something that got my attention. Many individuals do a good job on defining and stating their goals in life, let's say, their health and wellness goals for this particular year. Many of us, including my case in particular, are very inclined to start an activity, only when every single aspect is ready. My perfectionism, or, my willingness to do things right, flawlessly & perfect, makes me spend a lot of time planning, thinking, analyzing and more. I go through the list and check everything I need: the proper attire for exercising, not just any sports attire, I want the best one, with the best quality, color and fit. The gym, I would carefully do my research with friends and on-line to find out the best wellness center: location, the contract, the fine letters, equipment and of course, opinions from others . Nothing wrong with this, the fact of the matter is: When will I actually start exercising? As our class was writing our mission statements for the next 12 months and our action plans for the next 30 days, many of us struggled on how to get everything right and perfect, before getting into the activities. She smiled and gently expressed a very powerful statement: ' You don't need to get things right, you just need to get it going' . I invite you to pause for a moment and think about what would this mean to you today? What would that one thing you haven't done yet, because you want it right ?. This morning, my lovely and patient wife just reminded me that the world will not pay me for what I know, it will, for what I do. I want to share with you that I am indeed starting to act now and getting things going today, even if they are not perfect and be at peace with it. I encourage you to choose one thing now and get it going today. See you next week...

Choose just one for now...

Hi friends from the cyberspace, thanks for the great response and comments around this new blog. My goal is to provide insights and tips to help you and your team achieve more. At this time of the year, many of us still remember most of the New Year's resolutions we promised in front of others, once the ball dropped at Times Square. I am sure each resolution and goal is very important to you, and is an integral part of your success for this year. Now, how can we achieve all of those goals? Life gets on our way every day and we are all very busy with jobs, duties, family activities, kid's responsibilities and more. It may become overwhelming just to go through our list of goals and decide where to start. Successful leaders have the ability to just 'choose one for now' and do it with passion and intensity. There is magic in being focused on just one thing, one activity, one goal at the time. Let's do this: stop for a moment, take your list of goals for this year and pick one that brings you excitement, and brings you the most compelling images and emotions. I mean it, stop whatever you are doing right now, look at what you promised to yourself at the beginning of the year and be very intentional with just one thing. Trust your guts, you gotta believe it is possible, concentrate all your actions on just one thing and please, enjoy the process as part of your journey in life. Have fun while concentrating your energy in that one thing, have fun and share your progress with others. Something to think about: Your biggest challenge, procrastination; your worse strategy, trying to do way too many things at the same time; your worse enemy, fear. 'See you' next week...

Do you know your 'why' for 2011?

It has been a few weeks since we connected the last time. Can you believe we are already into day 17th into 2011? I know that as a leader, you are helping others find their why, or, what drives them to achieve the next level in their lives during this new year. We have learned that in order to do that in a powerful way, individuals must had found their own why first. Have you spent time with yourself, reflecting on what will propel you to new heights? Testimonials from success stories show that leaders need to know where they are going and what are the motivations behind what they do. What makes you wake up in the middle of the night and think? When you look at your loved ones, what is it that will bring happiness to them?
Once you have found it, you may think it takes time, it will probably take you more than a month, or more than a quarter. We often hear people saying: 'That takes a lot of time, or, I don't have time right now. Well, anything meaningful in life takes 'time', however, something needs to happen 'this week'. Successful people not only find their why, they also create a sense of urgency behind it. Are you distracted with lots of 'to do lists'? Are you overwhelmed with what you've heard in the news lately? What are your key actions and activities for this particular week? Make a list of '5 Daily Actions' that will be in line with your why: a specific number of phone calls today, starting up new conversations with people you don't know, at the grocery store, the post office and at places you go to get services. Find your why, write it down, share it with someone for accountability and start doing something about it 'now'. I am looking forward to hear about your findings, talk next week...
