Waka, Waka, Do It, Do it, this time, for you...

Last year, the entire world witnessed what is considered to be the most watched and most relevant sport in the globe: The World Cup, known as soccer in the US. Almost 4 billion fans were following teams from 50+ nations and 5 continents.  The players left behind political & religious differences, language barriers and geographical distances, to play soccer, while also having fun and executing sophisticated strategies developed during the previous 4 years. In 2010, millions gathered in South Africa to pay tribute and cheer for players and sports coaches from all over the world. At the opening ceremony, the world-known, female Colombian performer Shakira, unleashed her exhilarating energy and passion while singing "Waka, Waka, this time, for Africa". That video itself has over 309 million views on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRpeEdMmmQ0) showcasing a colorful display of rhythm, dancing, passion, diversity, choreography, with more than 150 dancers shouting "Waka, Waka". A few weeks ago, my dear Norwegian friend Stein Ove Fenne who lives in Copenhagen Denmark,  shared with me the meaning of Waka Waka, words from a dialect from Cameroon, Africa. It conveys action, willingness to get out there and execute something: Do it, Do it. It reminds me of Nike's slogan. While singing, Shakira was encouraging all players to get in the field, represent their nations, bring their best and just do it for their countries, their loved ones, themselves and for the billions of fans following them around the globe. I am quoting some of the lyrics of this song: "You're a soldier, choosing your battles, pick yourself up and dust yourself off, get back in the saddle, you're on the front line, everyone's watching, you know it's serious, we are getting closer, this isn't over, the pressure is on, you feel it, but you got it all, believe it. When you fall, get up, oh, oh. If you fall get up, eh, eh. Your time to shine, don't wait in line.... People are raising their expectations. Go on and feed them, this is your moment, no hesitations. Today's your day, I feel it . You paved the way, believe it.....". Have you realized the power that comes from getting into action? Are you the kind of person who has a Waka- Waka attitude regardless of the circumstances? Unleash the warrior within you, choose your battles one at a time, get out there, share the best you have to offer and win today and now. Yes, this time, for you: Waka, Waka!
